The Concordia University Identity

Universities are constantly in need of new ways to express their mission, values and personality.  After thirty years as one of the leading Lutheran universities in the nation, the Concordia University identity has been established to extend the core principles on which the university was founded: learning, service and leadership.

THE Logo

The stylized “C” icon consists of three foundation points that bring focus inward, with Christ and the symbol of the cross at the center.  These foundation points are drawn from the architecture of the CU Center on campus and symbolize each element of the Trinity; Father, Son and the Holy Spirit.  The fourth point, left open, is representative of the student’s place in the university framework – there is a place for you at Concordia University.  All of these elements portray the strong educational and spiritual foundation that is Concordia University.

The logotype is a progressive sans serif typeface in all caps to help embolden the university in support of the icon.  The weight of the typeface is inviting and friendly, allowing the icon to retain its meaning.

The colors of the logo are progressive, expressing the sense of community and warm atmosphere of the campus.  The green, gold and blue colors help diversify the appeal of the logo while remaining warm and inviting in tone.
